引言:

大家好!

上星期三我们看过卫斯理第27篇的讲章之引言。

上星期三我们共分享四件事有关禁食:

  • Œ神建造,恶者分裂,因此有禁食的必要。
  • 恶者会在信者的心田中栽种一个「工具」而控制我们,藉着禁食来辨明。
  • Ž信者只注重属灵的事件而忽略应尽的外在的善行,由禁食来平衡。
  • 对禁食有的人过于强调,另一方面,也有人积极反对禁食,如何来处理?

卫斯理约翰在讲章中用四方面来讲解,今晚我们要分享第一方面-禁食的本性 The nature of fasting,共有6样。

 

(1)  禁食乃是不吃任何食物,这是旧与新约中的信息,例如:大卫、尼希米、以赛亚、众先知及主耶稣。

All the inspired writers, both in the Old and New Testament take the word, to fast, in one single sense, for not to eat, to abstain from food.

 

(2)  一些旧的方式如撕裂衣服、坐在灰中、穿麻衣等是否在禁食中应照样进行,因新约少提到。

The putting on mourning, the strewing ashes upon their head, or wearing sackcloth next their skin. But we find little mention in New Testament.

卫斯理约翰特别引用王上18:28作为一个提醒,应用外在的表现来表明内在的心意是不准确的。

 

(3)  有关禁食的长短,如摩西、以利亚及主耶稣,因由天上供应的大能力他们禁食40昼夜。

The measures of fasting, Moses, Elijah and Jesus are recorded to have fasted without intermission forty days and forty nights.

圣经中的记载多数为一天,由早到晚,这也是早期信徒们的操练,教父特土良提倡在星期三及五的半禁食(half fasts〕。

 

(4)  有关有些人因体质弱或生病(年老),他们无法完全禁食也操练吃比平日少,圣经没有如此记载。但卫斯理在此也没有禁止与批评,可能透过如此的一个行动,神也赐福。

This is the eating little, the abstaining in part the taking smaller quality of food than usual. Neither can I condemn it. It may have its use, and receive a blessing from God.

 

(5)  最基本的禁食就是不吃那些山珍海味。

The lowest kind of fasting, it is can be called by that name, is the abstaining from pleasant food. 但1:8ff

 

(6)  圣经中神自己亲自颁下的禁食律例典章

利23:26-32;亚8:19

In the Jew Church, there were some stated fasts.

同样,在初期教会中也在一年一度或每周宣布禁食在复活节前,有的用8-40小时,有些整星期或两周由早直到晚。在大斋节及每星期五就如此禁食除了圣诞节。

Ancient Christian Church, there were likewise stated fast, and those both annually and weekly especially before Easter, some for eight and forty hours entire week, by many for two weeks taking no substance till the evening of each day.

 

结论

禁食是多样化,各有不同方式,时间的长短也因人而异。旧约的记载在新约中没有,各教会或时代也有不同的强调,最主要乃是个人都要存谦卑与亲近神的心来学习禁食,在暗中的父必然报答。
